A Year in Lockdown

It has been a year like no other. To capture our journey through lockdown, we invited you to be part of a creative collaboration to collect images of our experiences in our first Bearsden Festival Photo Contest.

The competition closed on 30 April and our Judging Panel is now reviewing all the entries to produce a shortlist that we will offer for a public vote to find the winners!

How to Enter

Terms & Conditions

  • It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and the competitor agrees to abide by these rules. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  • Images must have been taken since 20 March 2020 and within 5 miles of the East Dunbartonshire boundary.

  • Children and young people under the age of 16 must obtain the permission of their parent/guardian to enter.

  • Entries should be submitted online through website using the Form provided.

  • Submitted jpeg files must be a minimum of 150 dpi and no more than 10MB in file size.

  • All images submitted must be original work of the individual submitting them and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other photographic competition. 

  • Minor digital adjustments to submitted images is allowed, such as crop, levels, curves, contrast, colour, saturation and sharpening. However, the image must still be a faithful representation of the original scene. Composite and multiple exposures are NOT allowed, nor the adding or removing of subjects into or from the image.

  • It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit have been taken with the permission of the subject and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. Entrants must warrant that the photograph they are submitting is their own work and that they own the copyright for it.

  • Copyright in all images submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants however, as a condition of entry into the competition, each entrant grants a royalty free, worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to Bearsden Festival to feature any or all of the submitted images in any of their publications, their websites and/or in any promotional material.

  • All entries shall be stored confidentially by Bearsden Festival. The images shall be stored securely indefinitely as a record for the community of Bearsden. No personal information shall be publicly provided other than the images itself, the associated category of entry and the entrants name.   • All entries must be received by the advertised closing time and date.

  • Late, illegible, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt.

  • The Judging Panel will select a shortlist of entries for public vote. The judging panel's selection criteria is technical merit, content and composition, imagination and style.



1st Prize: Landscape photography and post processing lesson with David Stanton

Runners up vouchers: Sunday lunch at Beaumartin the Cottage and a wine lesson for 6 at Majestic Wines

1st Prize: £50 Gift Card from Waterstones

Runners up: £20 voucher for Jan Sam Juice and kayak taster for 2 at Pinkston Water


1st Prize: Art Lesson / Workshop with the highly regarded Art4You.Scotland in Killearn

Runners up: art materials and book 

Judging Panel

We have a wonderful panel of local creative professionals who have kindly volunteered to review your entries.


Judges will consider technical merit, content and composition, imagination and style, and will select a shortlist for public vote in May.
